Punahou School is proud to announce that Emily Reber ’92 Porter and John Morgan ’74 will join Punahou’s Board of Trustees beginning July 1, 2020, bringing a wealth of business experience, community service and a deep commitment to the School.
“We are thrilled to have Emily and John join us as Trustees, with their valuable experience in so many areas and longstanding involvement in the community,” said Board Chair Mark Fukunaga ’74. “Punahou is fortunate to have such inspired, committed leaders helping to steer the School into the future.”
Porter now serves as Chief Operating Officer at The MacNaughton Group, a Honolulu real estate development company, where she leads strategic planning and manages the overall operations. Morgan, a sixth-generation Hawai‘i resident, is President of Kualoa Ranch.
Prior to her time at The MacNaughton Group, Porter worked as Chief Administrative Officer, General Counsel and Vice President at JustAnswer, a San Francisco internet company that connects people to doctors, lawyers and others. The Harvard Law School graduate also worked as an attorney in Washington, D.C. and Honolulu.
She serves on various nonprofit boards, including Child and Family Service, Hawaii Women’s Legal Foundation and The MacNaughton Group Foundation, as well as on the advisory boards for Girl Scouts of Hawai‘i STEM Center, University of Hawai‘i Shidler College of Business, Kupu Hawai‘i, Ho‘ola Na Pua and University of Hawai‘i, West O‘ahu.

Morgan began his career as a part-time laborer at Kualoa Ranch in 1971. He became manager of the family-owned company in 1981, when the company employed just eight people. The ranch now has 400 employees working in cattle ranching, diversified agriculture, outdoor recreation and educational programs.
Morgan has been active in the community for many years, and is now on the board of O‘ahu Cemetery and HEMIC (Hawaii Employers Mutual Insurance Company). Some of his past board affiliations include, the State Board of Land and Natural Resources, Hawai‘i Visitors and Convention Bureau, Hawaii Cattlemen’s Council, the Hawai‘i Trust for Public Land, the Hawaiian Mission Children’s Society, the Bishop Museum and the Hawai‘i Nature Center.
Morgan’s wife, Carri, is the former director of Punahou’s Luke Center for Public Service. They have three children – Jason ’01, Kyle ’03 and Lindsey Morgan ’09 O’Neil.
“As alumni, parents of current and past students, and respected leaders in the community, Emily and John will offer fresh perspectives, insight and vital expertise,” said President Mike Latham ’86. “We are deeply grateful for their commitment to the School.”
