MacNaughton Forms Nonprofit Organization with $1M Grant to U.S.VETS

Hawaii based real estate investment firm The MacNaughton Group has launched a nonprofit foundation with an inaugural grant of $1 million over five years to the Hawaii chapter of U.S. VETS.
U.S. VETS is the nation’s largest nonprofit provider to homeless and at-risk veterans.
The MacNaughton Group Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3), is chaired by Duncan MacNaughton, the founder of TMG, and plans to support projects addressing homelessness, education, health, arts and culture, and the environment.

“We are proud to support and collaborate with U.S. VETS as it meets the unique needs of homeless veterans in our community,” MacNaughton said in a statement. “This gift is a wonderful way to honor my longtime friend Alan Kidwell, who had a soft place in his heart for the plight of veterans who struggle to re-engage in civilian life after serving our country.”
The grant to U.S. VETS is the largest of its kind since the organization’s inception in 1993 and will be given over five years. Part of the first installment of funding will be used to refurbish the recreational area at the U.S. VETS Barbers Point location.
The renovation is in the design phase, and is expected to include a new fence over the existing deck, a rebuilt recreation room and the addition of surrounding landscaping. The recreation area will be renamed after Alan Kidwell, a Vietnam War veteran and CPA who passed away in July 2011.
“Over the years The MacNaughton Group and its partners have supported our community both financially and through volunteer work,” said Jeff Arce, senior advisor to TMG and president of The MacNaughton Group Foundation. “We created the TMG Foundation to further support our passion for giving back to the Hawaii community and to create a sustainable, long term platform for philanthropy.”
