MacNaughton Acquires Waikiki’s Hotel Renew

MacNaughton, the Hawaii-based, family-owned real estate development and investment company, on November 1, 2021, added Hotel Renew to its hospitality portfolio. Hotel Renew is a 72-room property located one-half block from Waikiki Beach, near the famous Duke Kahanamoku statue, within walking distance of Kapiolani Park. In 2019, MacNaughton acquired the Lotus Honolulu at Diamond Head hotel, a short distance away from Hotel Renew on the Gold Coast of Waikiki.

“Our commitment to Waikiki and the local community goes hand in hand with our deep belief in the strength and resilience of Waikiki as a world-class tourist destination,” said Ian MacNaughton, Chief Executive Officer of MacNaughton. “Hotel Renew is well positioned to meet the growing demand for boutique hotel experiences in the heart of Waikiki, among visitors and also local residents.”

The company has retained the dedicated, warm and knowledgeable staff, ensuring a smooth transition for all. Carly Clement, who joined MacNaughton earlier this year, now serves as the General Manager of the Lotus Honolulu at Diamond Head and Hotel Renew. “Guests will delight in the convenient location and relaxed, stylish ambiance of Hotel Renew,” said Clement. “We look forward to providing our guests with warm and gracious hospitality.”

In addition to its ownership and operation of the Lotus Honolulu at Diamond Head and Hotel Renew, MacNaughton currently holds and has held various ownership interests in numerous other iconic and prominent hotels in Waikiki and across the State of Hawaii, as well as in Vermont.
